St Augustine to Daytona Beach ICW Mile 832

Monday morning February 3rd we departed Jacksonville after staying at a FREE city dock just north of the St John's River.  Again we were in the fog but fortunately it lifted early.  We soon felt the warm Florida sunshine on us and toasted with a glass of Florida OJ!!   We arrived in St Augustine at 2:15 and took a mooring at the city marina.  Plenty of time to take in some of the sites in what is known as the oldest city in the US dating back to 1564 - founded  by the Spanish on the feast of St Augustine, hence the name.  A lot to see and eat!!  Although we were planning to leave the next morning it was a pea-souper out there.  We could barely see 50 ft!  Of course we decided to stay another day - great excuse to see more of the city!

February 5th - Chris's Birthday!!  It was clear and once again we progressed through the ICW to Daytona.  Arrived at Daytona Beach at 4:15 on a nice quiet anchorage on the Halifax River.  Again we were blessed - just after the anchor set, a storm came through with high wind and rain.  Fortunately we are in Florida - storms pass quickly, allowing us to sit here comfortably to enjoy our happy hour!!
